Kaibab National Forest

Thanks to the Sullivans for these pictures and stories:
We love to go visit Kaibab National Forest any chance we get. Our family has gone there for many years and we have a lot of memories there. Kaibab National Forest is a 1.6 million acre forest that borders the south and north rim of the Grand Canyon. We live in St. George so it is only a quick two hour drive for us.
When we head up to Kaibab we like to get away from other people and camp off the grid. There are some great spaces off of mile markers 582, 585, and 587. They aren't actual campgrounds, but it is nice to be far away from other people
One of our favorite things to do in Kaibab is to bring our four-wheelers and cruise around on on the dirt roads up there. We drive around and look at the different lakes in the area or just drive through the gorgeous trees.
Another great thing to do in Kaibab is to go visit the Grand Canyon. It is only about 30 miles from Jacob Lake near where we usually stay. Everyone should see the Grand Canyon at least once, right?
While we are staying in Kaibab we go visit the cabin at three lakes and take pictures every year. The cabin is pretty old and cool for the kids to explore.
Our family has been visiting Kaibab National Forest for as long as we can remember and every year we go visit our family tree and swing. Our grandpa and his brothers tied a cable to two trees somewhere in the middle of the forest. This cable created a swing that we love to go visit. The swing has fallen a couple of times since then but the boys are great to climb up the trees and tie the cable back on. Every time we visit the swing we think of Grandpa.
These are just a few of the things we like to do when we go to Kaibab National Forest. Have you ever been there? What do you like to do there?
